I have spent 3 days perusing the internet for my book choices prior to coming in. I'm truly saddened as this has ALWAYS been an event I've looked forward to.
Plenty of great books but need better atlases. The selection wasn't all that great. I was looking for a Salt Lake City Street Guide with extra large print.

Went here to pick up two books for my sons birthday. The sales lady helped me dig through stacks of classics to find it. The manager however, when she saw we were doing it, came over and scolded us for doing it. She then found a copy of what I was looking which made up for her scolding me and they gift wrapped it making it a great gift!
Such wonderful variety, it's my favorite store!
I had $150.00 + of books in my hands, but I couldn't relax and think to find the other 2 that I had researched and that I so desired to take home.
I guess I can go to the internet where I would have saved $40.00 or more, over doing what " I Love " by going into the store and relaxing in a quiet and relaxed setting I've grown to love and appreciate.
Is this a future waste of time for me/us?
The presumed manager gentleman was louder and more boisterous than most, but the others were playing into it equally.
I and others were putting books back as the 3 minutes became none, then the manager made a loud announcement over the same intercom, that they were closed.
I have NEVER been to a Barnes and Noble in all the years, and the literally thousands of dollars I've spent, where looking at, and searching for books that I couldn't wait to find, became a beyond loud and broken experience, to the point of almost making me mad.
It's been a half hour since I walked out, and I couldn't wait to share this with B&N as my smart phone already asked about my experience.
What now B&N?
At 3 minutes to 9, the manager yelled across the entire store and asked, do you think you can give the intercom announcement to close to the front counter person. She stated that she could when she finished chewing her food.
Can B&N really remain a good option for so many? Or are they going there way of the others?
I have a library of 1200+ books, most purchased from Barnes and Noble in West Bountiful Utah, or in Sandy Utah.
The Bountful location is cozy but does not serve coffee. That was a huge cultural shock after living in New York. The inventory is rather pedestrian and most specialty books must ordered. They launched me into online book buying, sadly. I want to support brick and mortar stores but they need to carry a wider variety of books.
The employees are kind and helpful, I know I can count on them to help me.
